Purpose / Role Summary

The Wireline Engineer is directly responsible for delivery of services at the well site, in terms of safety, quality and operational efficiency. This position manages the preparation and dispatch of completion equipment and the execution of services in the field.

Reporting Line

Reports directly to the District Ops Manager or District Manager

Supervise the Operator(s) Crew

Job Functions (but not limited to):

  • Run cement bond log/theory
  • Run temperature log
  • Attend 24 hour radiation school
  • Run neutron log/theory
  • Advanced warrior logging system
  • Pump down operations
  • Run mechanical services on drilling rig/coil tubing. (Free point, Jet cut, Chemical cut, etc.)
  • Advanced warrior logging system
  • Run Gamma Ray/CCL and correlate to log
  • Run stuck pipe log/theory
  • Run outside back-off
  • Horizontal pipe recovery
  • Manages the operator crew
    • Safety
    • Training
    • Development
    • Managing Operator Crew's hours worked and time sheets
  • Competent in basic Warrior logging system
  • Maintenance of assigned equipment
  • Advises customers well site representative(s) in logging and completion operations
  • Interprets log data as needed
  • Troubleshoots and performs other well site analysis and decision making processes
  • Participates in the recommendation of hiring and dismissing of Operators
  • Oversees and approves Operator(s) work hours for payroll purposes
  • All QES employees have stop work authority

Qualifications and Skills

Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; Associate or Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years relevant experience or two years as Wireline Engineer.

Licenses, Certificates, Credentials, and Other Requirements

  • Must have and maintain a valid state issued CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with hazmat endorsement.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Employee Possessor issued by the ATF (Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms).
  • A satisfactory driving and background record, per company policies, is also required for this job.
  • Supervisory Well Control license

  • This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation regulations and, as such, strict compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy and the DOT regulations relating to the same is an essential job function and no exception will be made regardless of law.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily and handle multiple tasks with a minimum of supervision.
  • Skill Level Working knowledge and the ability to perform duties with minimal direction
  • Patience and the ability to work with others also play a vital role in the teamwork required to complete these tasks successfully.

Work Hours

  • Work hours are determined by job specifics. Can be up to 12 hours a day and typically Monday to Friday with some weekend work.
  • May be required to stay on location over night for extended periods.
  • There may also be a requirement to visit and work at other company locations.

Primary Work Environment

  • Field (outside in extreme weather conditions throughout the year such as greater than 100 degree termperatures, extreme cold, and daylight & dark lightning conditions)
  • Works on a team with others to perform a job
