Position Summary

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, developing and improving QES' network including, but not limited to, introducing new systems into current setups for optimum function, troubleshooting current systems, performing checks to insure systems are functioning properly, data backups and administration, and installing and maintaining software updates. The Systems Administrator must be able to work independently, exercising independent judgment and discretion, in order to diagnose and resolve problems quickly.

Reporting Line

The Systems Administrator will report directly to the IT Manager

  • Assist in the identification, development and implementation of new technologies or modifications to existing technologies.
  • Manage network servers and technology tools,
  • Develop, implement, maintain and monitor data backup procedures.
  • Administer and provide support for server and network equipment including, but not limited to, resolving advanced company-wide support and high-level network problems.
  • Network analysis, testing, configuration, modifications and maintenance of computer systems.
  • Assist in determining when equipment, programs, etc. should be serviced, updated, upgraded and/or replaced and make recommendations relating to same.
  • Develop expertise in order to train lower level technicians.
  • Configure software, printers, and other devices to allow QES employees to complete their job functions.
  • Ensure network security through access controls, backups and firewalls.
  • Develop and document internal procedures.
  • Communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users and provide advice to upper level management.
  • Conduct and oversee data migrations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Education Requirements (Minimum and Preferred)

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Minimum)
  • Computer associates degree or equivalent experience (Preferred)

Experience (Minimum and Preferred)

  • 5-10 years' experience as a Systems or Network Administrator (or similar role)
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection) and data backup/recovery
  • Resourcefulness and problem solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills

Licenses, Certifications, Credentials (Minimum and Preferred)

  •  Preferred technology certifications including Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Comp TIA A+, Cisco Telephony / Networking.

 Work Hours/Overtime

  •  Core office hours, plus the ability to work and perform after-hours and weekends as needed.
